I have bought from all of those stores and have found that THIS MAN (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kyle-baccus/4/50b/728) is the apple parts expert.
I can't even begin to explain how much Kyle has helped me.
grassrootscomputers should also be in the hall of fame.

Thank you very much for the very thorough responses.
As I said I am not the most tech savvy guy in the world and sometimes it's frustrating (as a creative professional) to try and learn the tech side of things on top of having to master FCP,AE,PS,C4D,AI, etc etc.
The flip side of course, is tech geniuses have to put up with my amateurish questions. Heh.

Here's a question that's been bugging me for a while. If you have a headless PC, does it need a video card in it?
The way I see it, it shouldn't because there's no monitor attached to it, but at the same time, VNC outputs what is on the monitor, which is driven by a video card. I've always wondered this, and I'm too lazy to pull the video card from my comp....
It most likely does. Your BIOS may keep you from booting the computer. If you have a really expensive graphics card, you can certainly downgrade. Newegg.com has many for under $20.
I wouldn't reccommend VNC if you have a 10/100 network because VNC causes high network traffic.

Have you tested with 4.3 to see if it works with the update? I'd be interested, since I might actually buy the connector if it does.

I'd love to know what Sony is going to offer on the subscription to make the upgrade worthwhile from the continued free service (other than a 'free' PSN game).
Can't say I'm happy about yet another monthly subscription fee, and it certainly doesn't want to be more than 50/year.

Why don't you try one of these many jailbreaks you have "seen online" instead of posting this ridiculous thread, you could even use the search option, I would go as far as to say that it would be front page news on macrumors if it had happened anywhere other than in your imagination!

Okay, so I've restored the drive to one partition, but now when i try to download the window support software I get an error message telling me "the support software is not available".
Surely it's not usually this difficult?
Oh - that's been a bug that's been around since they allowed for direct download. For some reason it simply doesn't work. You have to use the software located on your Snow Leopard disk. (Or disk 1 of the grey disks you got with your computer). You do this from the Windows side after you install XP. Note that the most recent models do not support XP because the component manufacturers didn't release drivers.

In the 1990's, some science departments at Caltech used to use Apple IIs for controlling their lab equipment... Easy programming, lots of uses...

one airport express is enough. just plug it in the wall and plug in the speaker's jack. than set the airport to create a wireless network. the light will flash amber because the AE knows that you haven't plugged in an Ethernet cable so it can't connect to the Internet, but you can just ignore it.
join the just created network with your MBP and/or your iPhone and use AirPlay to stream music to the speakers. you could even use your iOs device to control iTunes on your Mac via Apple's remote app.

no and i have no idea how to do that. terminal is a bit intimidating.
im using Verizon DSL. Im connected to a wireless router.
Ok, just thought I'd ask. You can certainly experiment with it. Open Terminal and type ftp. Type the name of the server, your username and password and play around a bit. Type help once you get logged into your server and take a look at the put and mput commands (they're for uploading files). It's ugly, but it works and may be a good workaround until you resolve your GUI issues.
Just a thought, you can read up on how to use Terminal in help or online. I'll refrain of typing up some huge confusing instruction set on how to do it since it's not really your first choice here.

The best part about this thread is the title: I read it as "China Unicorn finalizing deal for iPhone 4..."

uicandrew,
While the terms of the warranty permit Apple to replace defective phones with refurbished parts, I have no reason to believe this unit is refurbished. The iPhone came with the plastic adhered to the screen and has no blemishes or anything.
I lost my patience and went ahead and downgraded to 1.0.2. I'm really enjoying using the camera with Pushr, so I may need to rethink trading.
I put a crystal film screen protector on it as soon as I removed the plastic, so it's still pristine.

ahahah yah i know im late :D Its pretty rad though. For a 5 year old game, I am way impressed. Im only level 2, a sorcerer, and I am on my second side quest. I just made these villagers who were invisible, visible again. Way fun. I like it, and this is why I love rpg's. The world is indeed vast.
Okay, so on a side note, does anyone know if there is going to be another Elder scrolls game on 360 any time soon?

Dr Evil:
I am trying to take over the world and it isnt easy for somebody like me, I need to know the info, I needed to be in the know. My PC prevented me from doing that.
The trouble was a freakin idiot designed my PC; it wasnt helping me steal nuclear warheads so I could hold the world to ransom.
My PC kept getting errors and it crashed so much, I could never complete my plans on properly. This would make Mr Bigglesworth upset. Meow!
Yeah, and when Mr Bigglesworth got upset I got angry, I had the PC staff at my local store li-qui-dated, yeah, huh-uh!
Thats when I got my Mac, thats when I could finally take over the world, it was so easy. My plans were made so simple.
My lasers would fire, The Alan Parsons Project actually worked.
With the software included with my Mac I could easily organise my iLife with my evil henchmen, instantly my Number 2 knew who he worked for.
It was so easy and I didnt need to spend billions of dollars either.
