We've all heard about the skilled immigrant co-founders of Yahoo, Google, Ebay, and others.....but Youtube, the revolutionary internet-video sharing service, which was this week acquired by Google for $1.65 Billion, was also foudned by skilled immigrants- actually the son of skilled immigrants who probably came on H-1B visas the US- both are research scientists in Minnesota. These typify the H1B and EB immigrants.....if only our energies were not sapped by this frustrating Green Card process:-):mad:

So while his partners Chad Hurley and Steven Chen built the company and went on to become Internet and media celebrities, he quietly went back to class, working toward a degree in computer science.
Mr. Karim, who is 27, became visibly uncomfortable when the subject turned to money, and he would not say what he stands to make when Google’s purchase of YouTube is completed. He said only that he is one of the company’s largest individual shareholders, though he owns less of the company than his two partners, whose stakes in the company are likely to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, according to some estimates. In his studio apartment in a residence hall for graduate students, he showed one of them, which he said was filmed in April 2005. In it, Mr. Chen talked about “getting pretty depressed” because there were only 50 or 60 videos on the YouTube site. Also, he said, “there’s not that many videos I’d want to watch.” The camera then turns to Mr. Hurley, who grins and says “Videos like these,” referring to the one Mr. Karim is filming.

Guess what you should only travel by First class, If you travel by economy they will catch you..... :))
Jokes aside, You should be ok your H1B extension/stamping has nothing to do with which Airlines you travel, How many stops you will make etc.. Some countries have restrictions if you don't have valid visa during transit. Check with Airlines.

I got my visa stamping from mumbai conuslate. Its pretty easy. Take an appointment through VFS by getting a HDFC bank receipt after paying the fee. Check on the VFS site when is the available date. and then follow the link and book the appointment. You will get forms which are populated. If you have any mistakes in the form i think you can correct it at the mumbai consulate too. When you enter the consulate they will hand you the original form which you filled and then ask you to fill whatever you had missed out using your pen. you have to wait till your number calls out and then you get visa stamped and passport posted.

FYI - last year I was current on August 1st and got my green card email on August 30th. There were plenty of people who did not get it that month and got it following month.
If I were you, I would what ever you think helps your case but looking at how things happend last year, I really dont think anything helped. But I did talk to my congressman and also created SR. I think, if you search for threads titled August 2010 approvals etc you will find everyone went through what you are all going through now.

What kind of RFE besides the letter from the OBG doctor?
if u go to the doc, they will perform the the tests that are ok to perform..
Check with doc if they will accept the test results (PAP , HIV , etc) from your obgyns office. These tests are already done during initial stages of pregnancy.
Finally the doc will add a note to the medical report that some tests/shots are omited due to pregnancy.

EB-2, 485 and 140 submitted in June 2007 concurrently, RD and PD both are June 2007. I borrowed my husband's Swiss nationality. Now 140 approved, AP and EAD got, but NC is still pending.
Just curious: When will USCIS process my 485? According to my nationality or my husband's? If it's mine, god, I may have to wait for 4, 5 years because of the terrible VB backlog! Is it after 485, everyone no matter which nationality, the processing time should be the same. All the world line up together. Please correct me if I am wrong.

She has to travel back to india for a month from (Sep 08 - Mid Oct08). I am concerned about the issues/status when she enters back in USA. Her H4 is valid till Sep-2009.
1) Can she go back on H4 visa and return back with the same H4 visa. Will she be having any issues at the Immigartion officer at port of entry. If so, what type of questions she has to face?
2)After coming back, will her H1 have any issues ?

1. If you are paying for the GC process, then fire your attorney and get a new one who knows how to port the priority dates.
2. If employer is paying for it, ask them that you would pay for the second I-140.
3. If employer does not agree on either of the choices listed above:
a. File for EB3 I-140
b. Join a new employer and file a new EB2 labor and port your EB3 priority date.

Won't i be allowed to enter this office from OCT1st 07 or that's OCT 2008 ??
First of all even if CIR is passed someone need to interpret the section. What kind of Ban for H1b in consulting? Is it blanket ban? It is going to be very tough in reality to Ban H1b for consulting completely. There might be some options in the law.

Reason is probably they discovered your employer is doing similar crap with other employees.
Right now there is zero tolerance for these kind of abuses by employers.

Hi..Many thanks for the reply..I recieved my H1 B approval but as i want to take a break i would like to proceed with my L2...So one more query..I would like to proceed with Online filing..once done online..how to send the Paper by Post ?? will they notify after i e-file ??

Thank you very much for your help and all the info. I really appreciate it. I actually tried to fill out the Forms DS 156 and DS 157 and got totally lost. The following is my background. I worked at the company A in US as an Electrical Engineer until May, 08 (the end of my 6 year H1). Then, I went back to Malaysia and worked on my family business as a store manager and business owner, selling electrical appliances. My PERM is currently pending over one year now. Accordingly, I got an approval for 1 year and 2 months on my H1. I will now come back to work at company A in US, starting March 5, 09 (the same US company that I worked until May, 08).
I have questions that I am unsure about the Forms DS 156 and DS 157 as the followings:
Form DS 156
- Question 28 (who will pay for your trip): does the trip need to be paid by the US Employer? Can I pay it myself? My concern is I am not sure if I have to pay it myself because of my H1 Status. Pls advise.
- Question 20 (Name and Address of Present Employer or School): I think this should be my current company. In this case, please advise if this should be Company A that I will be start working in March or my family business in Malaysia.
- Question 21 (Present Occupation): should this be Electrical Engineer or Store Manager (Business Owner) for my family business? I actually worked as an Electrical Engineer for over 8 years. I only worked on my family business as a Store manager (Business Owner) for one year. Please advise which one I should put.
- Question 25 (Name and Telephone Numbers of Person in US Who You Will Be Staying With or Visiting for Tourism or Business): I will go back to work at Company A in US, and my brother lives in the same area that I will be working. So, I�ll be staying at my brother�s place. In this case, should this Item be the company A�s address or my brother�s address? Otherwise, should I put �None�?
- Question 29 (Have you ever been in US?):
For How long?: would this be (6 year � 2 months) since I spent 2 month vacation outside US during this past 6 year H1?
Enter Additional Visits to US here: I made 3 trips to Malaysia and 2 trips to Canada during this past 6 years of my H1B. I also made one trip to Canada during my F1 visa. In this case, I�m not sure if this should be the date I returned back to US from my trips to Malaysia and Canada. Should I mention only the trips during my 6 year H1 or mention all the trips, including the period of my F1 Visa?

- Question 12 (Not Including Current Employer, List Your Last Two Employers): I worked at company B in US till Jan, 07 and then moved to Company A in US until May, 08 (the end of my 6 year H1). Then, I came back to work on my family business till now. I will go back to work at Company A again in March, 09. I am not sure if my present company is my family business in Malaysia. My future company is Company A that I will start working in March, 09. My two previous companies are Company A that I worked from Jan, 07 to May, 08 and also Company B that I worked before Jan, 07. In this case, should I put Company A (Jan, 07 to May, 08) and Company B (before Jan, 07) as the last two companies? Please advise.

Would this cause me any problems for my visa application because I will go back to work with company A as an electrical engineer?
